Concept work, held to campaign standard.
A body of speculative fragrance campaigns used to pressure-test casting, lighting and art direction before a single day is booked.
Speculative work. Every study on this page is self-initiated. None was commissioned by, is affiliated with, or is endorsed by the brands referenced.

Taste is only provable on work.
Fragrance is the hardest brief in beauty. There is nothing to photograph except a bottle, and every house is selling the same intangible thing. It is where art direction has to carry all the weight, which makes it the right category to practise in.
These studies exist to answer a question a deck cannot: does a direction hold at campaign quality, with real casting, before anyone commits a budget. They are also how the standard gets set internally. Speculative work is the only place you can fail expensively and privately.
We spend longer casting than generating.
A model is not a face. Before a frame is made we decide who the person is: age, city, the job they have, the way they hold themselves. Natural imperfections are specified rather than removed, because blemishes, tired eyes and uneven skin are what stop an image reading as synthetic. That single discipline is the difference between a campaign that gets a like and one that gets a message.

Six shots, decided first.
Every study is built on the same six-shot spine: the hero, the product alone, the detail, the environment, the human moment and the packshot. Deciding those before anything is made is what stops a set of images becoming a mood board.
The rest is craft that predates any of this: colour theory at sixty-thirty-ten, a chosen lens and depth of field, a lighting plan, and a decision about which director the work is answering to.

The same studies, moving.
A still tells you whether the direction is right. Motion tells you whether it survives contact with a feed, which is where fragrance is actually sold now.

Realism is not a setting. It is a decision.
Generic AI output is what happens when nobody makes the small choices: the lens, the flaw, the moment before the smile. Every one of those is a judgement a person has to make, which is precisely why the tool has not replaced anybody.
