Fire protection · London & Essex

No fluff. Just fire protection.

JCS Firesafe works on buildings in Belgravia, Chelsea and Shoreditch. The brand needed to look like it belonged in those postcodes without ever sounding like it was trying to.

/01The Brief

A category that sells entirely on trust, and mostly looks like a van.

Family run, honest, responsive.

Fire protection is bought on whether someone believes you will do it properly, because the client cannot inspect the work and will only find out you were wrong on the worst day of their life. Everything in the category should therefore be built to look competent, and almost none of it is.

JCS were already doing the serious version of the job: eight years trading, thirty-six qualified staff, over three hundred and fifty inspections a year, and accreditation with NARFIS, BM Trada, SafeContractor and the Fire Industry Association. The brand was the only part of the business not carrying its weight.

/02The Mark

A shield with the thing it protects against inside it.

The JCS Firesafe mark on a dark textured ground beside fire equipment
Red against near-black. The only colour in the system is the colour of the equipment itself
Mark variants: red, mono and reversed, with applications
Letterhead and correspondence
Reversed, mono and single-colour, because this mark spends its life on a certificate, a report and the side of a vehicle rather than in a campaign
/03The Website

The proof is the portfolio.

Ebury Square. Sloane Terrace. Long & Waterson.

A managing agent choosing a fire protection contractor is making a risk decision, and the fastest way to settle it is showing the buildings you already look after. So the site is built around the projects rather than around the services, with the accreditations where a sceptic will look for them.

Four pages, no more. Home, projects, about, contact. In this category a site that is trying to be clever is a site that is hiding something.

/04Why it matters

Looking serious is not vanity in a safety business.

It is the first piece of evidence a client gets. Before anyone reads an accreditation they have already decided how careful you look, and a company that treats its own presentation casually invites the obvious question about how it treats the work.

Which is the whole argument for brand in the trades. Not to look expensive. To look like the kind of company that does not cut corners, because that is exactly what is being bought.
