/01The Brief

Retail imagery, without the retailer.

Selling a food product means showing it where people buy it. That is a genuine problem for a challenger brand: supermarkets do not hand out shooting permits, a location day costs more than the campaign, and the shelf you want to photograph has competitors all over it.

So the whole environment was built instead. Aisles, checkouts, produce sections, a shelf wall, a London street. The product is real. Everything around it was directed.

/02The World

Ordinary places, shot like a campaign.

The direction was deliberately unglamorous: strip lighting, a slightly tired trolley, a Tuesday-afternoon checkout. Sweets are an impulse buy, so the imagery had to live where the impulse happens rather than in a studio. The polish is in the framing and the grade, not the set.

/03The Shelf

The shot a challenger brand cannot legally take.

A full wall of your own product, facing out, no competitors in frame. In a real store that image is impossible: the shelf is shared, the planogram is not yours, and no retailer will clear it for you.

Built rather than photographed, it becomes an asset the brand owns outright, with no rights, no talent renewals and no retailer approval attached to it.

AI does not replace the shoot. It removes the permit.

Everything that made this hard was logistical, not creative: access, clearance, competitor packaging in shot. Take those away and a challenger brand gets the retail imagery a listed one takes for granted.
